Who is involved?
The Food Partnership currently has over 80 member organisations ranging from local businesses, foodbanks, community fridges, local councillors, community groups, growing projects, farms, colleges and charities addressing food poverty and education.
What is the Food Partnership doing?
Wealden Food Partnership is committed to creating a sustainable and resilient local food system through the following initiatives:
- Building connections between schools and farms to enhance food education and promote local produce through our Twinning programme.
- Supporting more sustainable community food models through exploring initiatives like food cooperatives and community supermarkets, ensuring access to nutritious food with dignity.
- Providing education and skills development to grow your own food, reduce waste, and cook healthy, affordable meals using seasonal produce.
- Advocating for investment in local food infrastructure, such as a food hub for surplus food distribution and improved processing and storage facilities like abattoirs and butcheries.
- Hosting events and opportunities for farmers, growers, producers and buyers to connect and shorten routes to market.
